Dean Bates, is a student at Lanford High School who appears in two episodes in season 4 and 6. He briefly dated Becky after she and Mark had a falling out. He is portrayed by actor and musician David Allan Donah.
About Dean[]
Dean is introduced as Becky's rebound date after she and Mark briefly split up when Becky feels like she is not being appreciated. Dan immediately expresses his joy after getting to know Dean and learning how much they have in common. However, Roseanne and Jackie immediately recognize that Dean has no shot at being a long term boyfriend, to Dan's dismay.
We see Dean again, years later, when he stops by the Conner's house to pickup Darlene to give her a lift back to college in Chicago, much to David's chagrin. They had reconnected after meeting at a frat party. Becky and Mark get into and argument when Becky expresses frustration at Darlene for using her ex-boyfriend.

He reveals in the episode, Don't Ask, Don't Tell, that he has a scholarship to play football at college.
