Emma Rose Kenney (born September 14, 1999) is an American actress who recently played as Debbie Gallagher in HBO comedy-drama series Shameless and Harris Healy in the ABC sitcom revival series Roseanne and spin-off series The Conners.
Early life Edit
Kenney was born on September 14, 1999 in Manhattan, New York, one of two children born to Gillian Kenney, a criminal defense lawyer, and Kevin Kenney, a sports writer who formerly wrote for the New York Post and now works for Fox Sports. Though Kenney was born in New York and both her parents worked there, she was raised in Scotch Plains, New Jersey and attended school in New Jersey.
Kenney's most notable role to date is that of Debbie Gallagher, the on-air daughter of William H. Macy in the comedic drama Shameless. Kenney won the role at just 12 years old, whilst a seventh grade student at Park Middle School in New Jersey. Outside of Shameless, Kenney made several appearances in short films and made-for-television films and, in 2009, at just 9 years old, she was the youngest filmmaker to be a finalist at the New Jersey International Film Festival at Rutgers University.
In September 2017, it was announced that Kenney would appear in the 10th season of Roseanne, which is slated to serve as a revival of the series and begun airing during March, 2018. She portrays Harris Conner Healy, the granddaughter of the sitcom's titular character. Sara Gilbert portrays her on-screen mother, Darlene Conner Healy. On August 28, 2018, Kenney reprised her role for The Conners along with Ames McNamara and Jayden Rey, after Kenney finished filming the ninth season of Shameless.
