Chuck "Chuckie" Mitchell is the best friend of Dan Conner and husband of Anne-Marie Mitchell a childhood friend of Roseanne Conner, Chuckie appears in a recurring basis on Roseanne, appearing in fifteen episodes of the series. The part of Chuckie is played by veteran stage/TV/film actor James Pickens, Jr..
About Chuck[]
Chuck or "Chuckie", is Dan Conner's closest friend, business partner, and poker buddy. He is married to Anne-Marie, a long time friend of Roseanne and Jackie. Usually, when Chuck, Dan and the guys get together, the conversation is usually very light, talking about beer, babes, and at time complain about the wives when they play poker together. But, the tone turns to the issue of race, when D.J. refuses to kiss a black classmate for a play at his school in the episode "White Men Can't Kiss" in Season 7.
Dan is forced to confront the issue, and examine his own views on race, after he asks Chuck for his opinion on the subject. Chuck, in questioning Dan's asking, answers, "Why did you ask me, because I was Black?", when Dan, embarrassed, sheepishly responds, "Well, uh Yes..." Chuck then responds "So, if I say it's OK, all other Black people must think it's OK?!" After this Dan confronts D.J., who then agrees to kiss the girl in the play.
Personality[]
Chuckie is highly secretive and keeps to himself, or at least keeps things from Dan. Much of the time Dan and Chuckie have friction about Race, and does not know something happens to Chuckie, whether it is good nor bad, until after it happens. He is particularly secretive about Anne-Marie, who is thoroughly depicted as a Housewife, despite having a variety of skills such as cooking, cleaning, accounting, and office management. He surprised Dan when he was able to buy a decent sized boat. One year later, he did not want to tell Dan about Anne-Marie's health problems nor their Son moved away years ago. Chuckie does not visit The Lunch Box as a customer, and has said numerous times his family's cooking is best.

- Chuckie is an automotive mechanic that worked with Dan on heavy vehicles at the city garage. He also maintains his and his wife's cars.
