Roseanne & The Conners Wiki

Jerry Gimble (a.k.a. Steven), is the ex-boyfriend of Leon Carp who appears as a guest in 2 episodes in season 3 and 4. He is portrayed by actor and musician Michael Des Barres.

About Jerry[]

Jerry (Steven) is the boyfriend of Roseanne's boss, Leon, who we meet at the end of the episode, Dances with Darlene, when Roseanne and Bonnie are questioning Leon about his romantic life. Leon introduces him as his "friend," but Roseanne and Bonnie quickly catch on to the true nature of their relationship.

We see the same actor, Michael Des Barres, again portraying Leon's boyfriend in the episode, Tolerate Thy Neighbor, but this time we see him referred to as "Steven" and we learn that they live together and have been together for at least 3 years. The two have a strife over the fact that Leon wants him to leave for a trip while his mother comes to visit. Roseanne takes Steven's side and is generally supportive of Leon's boyfriend meeting his mother, but it turns out Steven does not enjoy at all the company of his "mother-in-law." Its also revealed he owns a book store that Leon helped invest in. This is the last time we see Leon's boyfriend.

In the episode, The Commercial Show, Roseanne reveals Leon broke up with Steven sometime after we first met him and Bonnie mentions she overheard that Steven moved out taking much of the furniture and CD collection with him.

Trivia[]

In the episode, Tolerate Thy Neighbor, the character mentions they that he has been in a relationship with Leon for at least 3 years so we can assume that the character "Jerry Gimble" we meet in the episode, Dances with Darlene, and Steven are one in the same. The different names could simply be just a continuity error.

The actor Michael Des Barres would later appear again in the Season 9 episode "The Miracle" playing another character named Dr. Phillips.
