James "Jimmy" Gartner, was Darlene Conner's boyfriend who appeared as a guest character in two episodes of season 7. He was portrayed by actor Danny Masterson.
About Jimmy[]
Darlene first mentions Jimmy in the episode, Two For One, after Jackie tells Roseanne she thought she had caught her at a hotel with David. Darlene is then forced to reveal she is dating both Jimmy and David and that David is okay with it, but Roseanne convinces him to stand up to her. Darlene then breaks up with David, opting to stay with Jimmy.
Later, Mark mentions to David he had heard that Darlene and Jimmy were planning on moving in together and we later catch up with David spying on them both in a coffee shop. After Darlene leaves, David introduces himself to Jimmy using a fake name, and tries to manipulate Jimmy out of moving in with Darlene. After David continues to follow Jimmy around more he begins to assume that he is gay and coming onto him, but Darlene catches them and tells David to stay out of her life.
When we see Jimmy again it's during a surprise visit Roseanne and Jackie make to Chicago where Roseanne grills him and Darlene over their relationship because she wants her to get back together with David. We last see Jimmy attempting to throw Roseanne out of Darlene's apartment for disrespecting him. The three girls laugh hysterically at his attempt to stand up to her.
Jimmy is never seen again. In the episode, Sisters, Darlene reveals to Jackie that Jimmy dumped her. Later, she states she kicked Jimmy out of her life after discovering his drug addictions.

- In the episode, Follow the Son, it is revealed that he is a boxer and ballet dancer. In the same episode, he mentions that he and Darlene had met at one of his dance recitals in Chicago.
