Lanford is a municipality located in Illinois founded November 11th, 1946. It is the Setting for most Roseanne and The Conners episodes.

Background[]

Not much is known about the history of Lanford. It has several factories, such as the Old Wellman Factory and a largely lower middle class census, such as the Conner Family, who live in a house at 714 Delaware Street near the corner of Third and Delaware. The neighborhood has a local Elks Club that does charitable work for the neighborhood. Several locals hang out at the Lobo Lounge, a local bar and grill, and truck stop.

Municipals Near Lanford[]

Some episodes state Lanford to be a very small town located in Fulton County, Illinois which the nearest places is Peoria and Bloomington. Becky marrying Mark Healy so easily required Interstate access to get to Indiana. Many episodes mention being very close to Elgin and Aurora which strongly indicates Yorkville as the location for Lanford. Additionally, Lanford's population growth reflects Yorkville's.

Update: In the S4E4 of The Conners titled The Wedding of Dan and Louise an early scene of a weather radar is exhibited placing Landford just southeast of O'Hare International Airport where Franklin Park and Northlake are currently.

Production notes[]

  • The location of the house seen in the interstitial shots is in Evansville, Indiana. The yard is the same configuration with a detached garage and alley in the back.
  • The basis for The Lobo is also from Evansville and the basis for The Lunch Box is from several restaurants located in Iowa.
