Brain-Dead Poets Society was the 11th episode of Season 2 of Roseanne, also the 34th overall series episode. Written by Tom Arnold, the episode was directed by John Pasquin. It originally aired on ABC-TV on December 5, 1989.


The Conners' romance suffers when Roseanne takes a second job in order to make ends meet.


  • Dabbs Greer who played Joe in this episode is better known for portraying 'Reverend Alden' in Little House on the Prairie in which Sara Gilbert's sister Melissa Gilbert starred as Laura Ingalls-Wilder and her brother Jonathan Gilbert portrayed Willie Oleson.


Roseanne: Are you feeliing ignored? Are you feeling unappreciated?
Dan: You're gonna be feeling single in about two seconds.

Roseanne: And we'll see about that, when I get home for work.
Dan: That's a nice try, Roseanne, but guilting me isn't GONNA WORK! (He slams the door)

Joe (after Dan and Roseanne share a romantic conversation): This is bull! I thought you said you were married! (leaves)
Roseanne (adoringly at Dan): I am.

Man #1: Hey! That's a third time you guys bump into me pow. You think I'm afraid to hit her?

Jackie: I'm a cop and withholding information is a... well, it's bad.
