Patriarchs and Goddesses is the eleventh episode of Season 4 of The Conners, also the 62nd episode overall.

Summary[]

Darlene continues to navigate her breakup with Ben, and when she and Becky head to the movies and see Ben on a date, Darlene can't stop herself from interfering and making everyone uncomfortable. Meanwhile, Dan offers to talk with Aldo's dad, Jesse, when he doesn't approve of Harris and Aldo's relationship.

In-Depth[]

Becky complains about Darlene's fake spiritual friends. She tells Darlene to talk to Nick instead. Darlene wants to be left alone about it so the family decides to join her.

Aldo's children are spending time with Dan, who hates them. Aldo tells Harris to get his children to see their Jesse. He does not want them to be with Harris nor her family. Aldo says that Harris moving in is out of the question. Dan offers to talk to Jesse.

Becky and Darlene are at the movies spying on Ben and his new date. Darlene says that Becky is much too loud while Becky says that Darlene does not need to spy on Ben. Darlene drives every body crazy by setting up opportunities to talk to Ben and Ben's new date. By the way, Ben's new date is not Heather. Even so, Darlene blames Ben for the problems with Nick. She goes back to talk to Laura a second time. Ben tells Darlene to go away. When Becky comments about Laura's perfect hair, Darlene decides to return. Ben tells Darlene to shut up and then asks Laura if they should go. Becky begins shouting at Darlene which Darlene successfully annoying every body that night.

Jackie joins Dan to meet Jesse. He likes Beer even more than Dan. He brings Beer with him every where he goes, yet accepts other people's Beer also. He also insinuates that he probably drinks while driving. It does not take long before Jackie is afraid of him so she leaves. Dan tells Jesse to not Judge Harris. He tells Dan that he is not upset with Harris. He says that his experience as a roofer that landed in a pile of bricks, and enraging his wife by sleeping with her sister, that Aldo is even crazier than he is. He insists that Aldo is not good enough for Harris. Jesse also mentions he was married again, and his grandchilren made her insane. Dan and Jesse seem to get along with each other.

Ben stops by to ask Darlene to stop scaring Laura. Darlene is worried that he might get engaged to her. Ben says that he does not know. However, he prefers to date women that he has not that much in common with. He is afraid that he might turn in to Jesse if he stayed with Darlene.

Jackie and Becky are sledding and drinking at the same time with Dan pulling them with his truck. Jackie reminds Darlene that she and Ben had trouble for a long time. Darlene mopes around which proves Becky's point why she is no good with relationships. Darlene is literally a Buzzkill.

Dan quickly asks Harris to stop dating Aldo. Before Harris replies, Aldo and Jesse walk in from outside. Aldo furiously tells every body that Jesse is interfering in his life again. Harris has been waiting to confront Jesse for a long time. Jesse says that he was attacked by Bees. Aldo childishly demands that every body should have a calm conversation. He apologizes to Dan for Jessie bothering him. Dan says that he has had his own reasons for a very long time for Harris to not be around Aldo, and most importantly: Aldo's evil children. Harris is furious that people are deciding for her. She says she does not care about their concerns and says she is dating him. As they leave to pack, Aldo proves Jesse's point again.

Jesse continues to act as if they are now family. He asks to stay with Dan while Dan counters with free Walking Beer for his commute to talk with Aldo and Aldo's children. Jesse counters with taking a Get Outside Beer and a Get Out Of The Yard Beer.

Since Ben says that Darlene is too dangerous for each other, Darlene decides to find closure. She visits him at his new place that he wanted for a very long time. He says that he is still going to spend time with them as Dan's Boss, as well as a Father Figure to Darlene's Children. They both agree for Ben to visit Darlene when she gets a place of her own. Other than that, he is quietly upset.

Dan and Jesse enjoy spending lots of time with each other singing Blues songs. Dan is on Harmonica while Jesse is on Guitar. They are quite good at Free Styling, much better than the overrated Rap Genre.
