Peter Pan, The Backup Plan, Adventures in Babysitting, and A River Runs Through It is the fifth episode of Season 4 of The Conners, also the 56th episode overall.
Summary[]
The Conner home is decked out for Halloween despite the leak in the roof that forces Dan and Louise to cancel their honeymoon. But all is not lost when Becky surprises the newlyweds and takes them on a virtual adventure around the world. Meanwhile, Darlene continues her spiritual journey, and Harris introduces Aldo's children to the family, where more tricks than treats await.
Plot[]
This is a Halloween Episode. It is perhaps the first Roseanne / The Conners Halloween Episode where they cannot afford to celebrate it. They simply eat the Fun Sized Candies since no Trick Or Treat occurred. Additionally it is around the time of Dan and Louise's Wedding Anniversary. Becky and Darlene give them Virtual Reality as a substitute for a Vacation. They can even interact with each other on it. How long can Louise tolerate some thing so silly? Also in this episode Emilio returns. Dan wants Becky to be with her husband. Becky is an Alcoholic that needs to be Sober before pursuing a relationship. It might be too late; Emilio is dating another woman. Darlene tries Eastern Spirituality in an attempt to bring her family together. The result is grandchildren.
In-Depth[]
Dan and Louise have canceled their Honeymoon and since it is close to Halloween, they are unable to celebrate that either. Dan bought tons of Fun Sized Candies. Darlene asks him about how Ben is doing. Dan immediately gets to the point and tells Darlene that he has not seen him dating any body else. However, Dan does not want to pay attention to people's dating lives.
Darlene goes to the Kitchen where Harris is equally annoyed. She invites Harris to see Dale while Harris continues to be dismissive and insulting. Darlene is upset about Ben and the fact that Harris has a boyfriend when she does not. Even more puzzling is that Harris is practically a stepmother. She cringes when meeting them.
Darlene and Becky gift Dan and Louise Virtual Reality toys. They can travel everywhere driving safely on their couch.
Jackie and Darlene go to Dale's in search for answers to help Darlene raise her family. Jackie loves the place. She immediately starts buying lots of merchandise. She also insists that Dale help Darlene. Dale begins by explaining that he opened the store to save his life. He tells her about an Author on tour giving a lecture. Jackie continues to obsess about the items.
Jackie and Becky are at The Lunch Box dressed as Peter Pan and Tinker Belle. Becky is annoyed that The Lunch Box now sells Alcohol which she and Beverly Rose need to keep away from. Jackie suggests that Emilio watch her during his off hours. Becky says that Emilio continues to want to be with both of them. Unfortunately, Becky is worried that getting into any relationship might make her drink again.
Darlene returns to Dale's for Jo Anne's Lecture. She brings Mark Juinor in an attempt to remain anonymous. Both Mark Junior and Jo Anne immediately see what Darlene is doing. He introduces herself as Darlene. She needs to know about if Tao can help her deal with Negativity. She says that Darlene Junior is interested. However, she needs to know how to keep from driving away her loved ones. Darlene Junior decides he wants to go outside and listen to the radio instead.
Emilio is at the house in the kitchen talking to Becky. She asks him to start watching Beverly Rose more. He says that when he is at work, he can try to ask his new girlfriend. Becky asks about her beginning with how many children she has watched to what she looks like. Emilio says that he was not ready to tell Becky since he is not exactly sure how much his girlfriend loves him. When he says that he is attracted to beautiful and smart girls, Becky takes it as a compliment.
Darlene is meeting Harris's boyfriend Also. Darlene starts to use Reverse Psychology that she learned from the Lecture. The entire thing backfires; Aldo is into Eastern Culture. He immediately recognizes what Darlene is trying to do. After a moment of pretending to be nervous, he says that he was simply waiting for Harris to ask him. After a very short moment of celebrations, Darlene starts panicking about Harris not ready to raise two pre teen children. Harris demands an explanation. She says that Darlene is wrong about Aldo and his children. Darlene continues to say that Harris needs more practice.
Dan burned the food yet again. Becky is disgusted. She says that when she finishes her Coffee that she can get food instead as she is about to head out to pick up Beverly Rose. Dan asks how they are doing. She says that he is dating another woman. Dan asks why Becky isn't dating her own husband. She says that when is finally Sober for one year she might have no choice except to look for other Men to date. Dan tells her that she is stuck with Emilio.
Darlene confronts Dale about her mistake. He tells her to that she is still being too pushy and sells her a very large book. She wants to use it as a weapon.
Dan is upset that his construction company is gone and is completely unable to repair the roof and can not afford the lumber. Louise says that they can pretend to be on Honeymoon without the silly Virtual Reality.
Dan meets Aldo's children. He, in his Halloween costume, orders them to their death.
