Sex, Lies and House Hunting is the thirteenth episode of Season 4 of The Conners, also the 64th episode overall.
Summary[]
Darlene falls in love with a house she's looking at, but when the realtor shares she has a better chance of getting the house if she's part of a couple, she convinces Ben to pretend to be her partner. Meanwhile, Becky and Professor Davis continue to try and keep their relationship a secret, but secrets are hard to keep.
Plot[]
Darlene is trying to buy a house in order to prevent making the mistakes she made in her relationship with Ben. However, she is told that Ben must be there. Becky's relationship with her professor was never a secret. She finds out when some students begin Hazing her.
In-Depth[]
Becky is taking Darlene's advice to change her Diet. In this case, she hates Added Sugars. Becky orders all the candy to be thrown out immediately. Darlene is not paying attention for the first time, as she is interested in Buying A House. Darlene invites Becky to move into the house with her. When Becky does not want to, Darlene insists that she reconsider. Becky is not sure who makes her the most uncomfortable: Jackie or Darlene.
Darlene and Harris snuck in the house. They intend to steal lots of belongings. The Realtor finally catches them. At first she is fooled by their Homeless Style Of Clothing. It does not take long before she figures Darlene out. She tells Darlene and Harris that most Sellers are not interested in Stubborn Independent Single Mothers. Claire even tells them that men are typically desperate for women in their lives which might result in one of them cosigning. Darlene and Harris are unable to make an offer on the house.
Becky and Glen are followed by Students. Liza and Connie decide to confront them on their relationship. They force Becky to attend a bizarre Singles meeting at a Cemetary.
Dan went Dumpster Diving for the Candies. He is waiting for Ben to take him to Denny's. Ben finds out that Darlene is House Hunting so he immediately offers to help with the Inspections. She tells him it is more serious than that. Ben agrees to accompany her to see Claire.
Jackie is looking for Becky and decides to crash Becky's party at the Cemetary. She tells Jackie what happened. They damage a Tombstone so Jackie flees. Becky's classmates demand that she goes on a date.
Ben is at the house completely cooperative with Darlene. Claire reminds them how competitive it is and asks them to increase their offer on the house.
Dan meets Glen. Becky tells Glen what happed the other night. Glen acknowledges that he is powerless to stop them. However, Becky says it is perfectly okay to be upset. Being a Level Headed Professional Professor, Glen feebly throws a Beer Can against a blank space in the wall. Dan continues to scoff at Glen.
Ben continues to be impressed at Darlene's efforts to Buy A House which is what Ben wanted her to do earlier. Since she is no longer ruining their relationship, he agrees to cosign for the house. Darlene thought that they were through with each other and is very confused. Ultimately, she says no, because she is disgruntled with the Realty complications. She rejects Ben's offer in front of Dan, who is waiting for another ride to Denny's.
Later, Jackie accompanies Darlene to vandalize the house.
