Skeleton in the Closet was the sixth episode of Season 7 of Roseanne, also the 153rd overall series episode. It was written by William Lucas Walker and Lawrence Broch from an original story by Lois Bromfield, and was directed by Gail Mancuso. It originally aired on ABC-TV on October 19, 1994.

Synopsis

Roseanne's attempts to prank everybody at Leon's Halloween party at the diner fall flat when it's revealed to her that Fred is gay.

Plot summary

Leon begins to pay more attention to Fred who acts overly annoyed about it, Nancy and Leon think Fred doth protest too much. When Leon hosts a Halloween party, all his gay friends seem to know Fred quite well and Roseanne becomes convinced that Fred is gay. Roseanne is also convinced that Bev is going bald and wears a wig, and she is shocked to see a wig in the style of Bev's hair at her hairdresser.

Trivia

• Even though she works at the lunchbox, this marks the only episode this season that Nancy Bartlett appears in.
• In the closing tag, Beverly admits that she's bald and takes off her "wig" and is followed by everyone else in the family taking off their wigs to show they are bald too. Realizing she has been pranked, Roseanne takes out a detonation device and blows up the house.
• This is the only Halloween episode to feature Sarah Chalke as Becky Conner. Sarah Chalke will appear in the Season 8 Halloween episode "Halloween: the Final Chapter", but playing an entirely different character.
• Despite being credited, Sara Gilbert (Darlene Conner) does not appear again for the third episode in a row. This is the only Halloween episode she is completely absent in. She'll only appear through archive footage in the Season 8 Halloween episode.
