Sober Sex, Plastic Silverware, and Losing My Religion is the third episode of Season 4 of The Conners, also the 54th episode overall. It aired on October 6, 2021.
Summary[]
Part of Becky's recovery program mandates she make amends with people she has lied to over the years, leading her to meet up again with former high school friend Mikey to apologize for lying to him about her living a successful life. Meanwhile, Darlene visits with Pastor Phil, and Louise continues planning her wedding.
Plot[]
Darlene, fed up with Jackie, needs to talk with some body that is not so brash. Darlene and Becky have rivalries the entire episode. Becky wants to practice a relationship with Mikey. They are getting ready for Dan and Louise's wedding.
In-Depth[]
Darlene and Becky are insulting each other.
Becky is writing a list of every thing wrong in her life. She is dreading confronting an old friend about lying to him. Darlene needs to go to church to find answers and talk to the Minister about Roseanne.
Both people are very understanding. Becky and Mikey agree to go to Lunch together while Darlene wants to get to know her new Stepmother.
Jackie is in the kitchen with Louise as well. She is not very happy. Darlene sees an opportunity to assist Louise when she needs scissors. She immediately asks Louise out for Coffee even though Louise is very busy. Darlene still wants to help so Louise gives a suggestion about where to find Silverware. Both Darlene and Jacke give Louise problems. Jackie scoffs at Louise's request while Darlene helps out Louise yet again. She proceeds by offering to help with the next thing. Unfortunately, Louise does not like that suggestion. The next item on the list is to find food. Darlene ends up nullifying her offer to help with the Silverware by suggesting to serve with Moroccan Dishes with no Silverware required. Louise thinks Morocco is silly. By this time Darlene is projecting her own Wedding Plans for Louise. She walks away with the To Do List.
Louise sneaks away with Darlene's Children to find a wedding dress. They do not like any of the dresses.
Becky takes Mikey to The Lunch Box. She unloads all of her problems to him. He gladly helps her with every one of them. Mikey is invited to Louise's wedding. When Becky says that she never had Sex while Sober, Mikey decides to be her Sex Counselor.
They go to the Hotel and practice having Sex. They are terrible at it.
Jackie and Darlene are planning the wedding. Jackie says that Darlene is going about it all wrong. She needs to drink like a Bear. Darlene is continuing with the zaney wedding plans. They see a picture of Louise and Harris trying on wedding dresses. They go to stop them.
The reason why Becky is terrible at having Sex with Mikey has to do with Becky needing an impartial friend to have sex with. However, Mikey has a crush on her.
Louise and Harris are now wearing traditional wedding attire. Darlene and Jackie bug Louise. She tells Louise how upsetting it is that her kids are dragged to plan her wedding without her. Darlene also does not approve of the Bride's Maid dresses with Jackie supporting Darlene.
Dan is angry at Darlene for being a nuisance. Darlene has had enough. However, Louise tells her that she apologized for sneaking around Darlene. She says that she wants to talk about it calmly. Darlene is upset that Louise seemed to be offended. Dan and Louise say that it is not right for them to be a substitute for Darlene and Ben's wedding.
Eventually, Darlene tells Louise why she really wants to be with her. She forgot why after Louise said that she is too busy to talk with Darlene. She warns Louise that Darlene has had every thing bottled up since Roseanne died. She is upset about that and every thing that happened since then. Louise is completely understanding and asks Dan to leave the room.
The episode ends with Darlene and Becky continuing to try to get the last word.
