Three Exes, Role Playing and A Waterbed is the ninth episode of Season 4 of The Conners, also the 60th episode overall.
Summary[]
Thinking it's Ben's day off, Darlene brings Nick to the hardware store only to run smack into Ben, who invites Nick to join him at The Lunch Box to watch a Bears game. Meanwhile, Dan tries to spruce up the bedroom while Louise is out on the road and Jackie meets Logan's mom.
Plot[]
Yet another toxic person has entered Jackie's life. Darlene thinks she is ready to sleep with Nick which results in them going to O'Linsky's. Dan takes care of an injured Jackie and a stressed Becky.
In-Depth[]
Jackie and Becky are talking to the kitchen about Neville. Darlene tells them about when she is sleeping with her new boyfriend. They tell her that their first sexual encounter with a new boyfriend not supposed to be difficult.
Unfortunately, it is difficult for Jackie. Neville brings Logan with him because he was causing trouble. Even worse is that Logan's mother is coming to Lanford and work for Neville.
It turns out that Nick does not own his building. The electricity went out requiring them to go to Olinsky's. Darlene is expecting Dan to be at work.
Dan is at home avoiding the bills that piled up since Harris moved out. Harris tells them to throw the bills away. Becky helps Dan select new Master Bedroom Furniture.
Darlene lets Nick in at O'Linsky's. Ben and Dan switched days so that he can move to his own place and so Dan can buy the furniture. Ben hears Darlene talking about him in front of Nick. The two get along with each other well enough to meet again at The Lunch Box.
Becky returns to the kitchen to assist Dan. He tells her that he found new furniture when she was away. They find Beverly Rose playing on the very youthful furniture. Dan asks Becky to test the water bed.
Jackie meets Helen, Logan's mother, and former relationship with Neville. Helen is clearly poison for Jackie. She tells Becky about this new problem that they have.
Darelene, Ben, Nick, and Heather sit at a nearby table. Nick and Heather watch Darlene and Ben make a mockery out of each other. Both of them leave, telling Darlene and Ben to work out the problems by themselves. A drunk Darlene alienates Nick.
Neville tries to explain why he did not tell Jackie about being romantically involved with Helen. His solution is to challenge Helen to a Basketball game. And yet again, nobody tells Jackie about the unpleasant surprise. Jackie get injured within seconds of facing off with Helen.
Ben stops by to talk with Darlene. They seem to resume the same conversation that they had earlier. Ben is surprised when Darlene told him that Nick broke up with her. As he sits down, they both insist that they are through with each other, so they have no reason to interfere with each other's current relationships. Darlene expresses that she really did change, despite being drunk the other night. Ben is glad to help out, and offers to make her a formula of Red Pepper, Garlic, Broccoli, and Coconut Water.
Helen is spending as much time at The Conner Family's House as Logan is. Neville tends to Jackie's injuries while she wishes that both Neville and Helen would go away. Helen gladly offers to take Logan and Mark Junior with her to Dave & Busters and also to go hiking with her. Neville offers to stay with Jackie. As they leave to resume their old relationship with each other, Jackie decides to destroy Neville's Unsympathetic Vase Of Flowers. Dan sits in the living room to take care of Jackie while they are out.
Later, he takes Becky to The Master Bedroom so she can rest and sleep while he watches Beverly Rose. It turns out that Dan might have made a great choice for the new furniture. It is some thing that he always wanted: A Place To Relax.
