White Trash Christmas was the 12th episode of Season 6 of Roseanne, also the 134th overall series episode. It was written by William Lucas Walker and Lawrence Broch and was directed by Phillip Charles MacKenzie. It originally aired on ABC-TV on December 14, 1993.
Synopsis[]
Roseanne and Dan go all out for Christmas, in indignant reaction to 'Neighborhood Association' limitations on exterior decoration. Roseanne is angry when Becky uses college money that was meant for her to put Mark through school and is further annoyed when Becky begins working at a tacky bar, "Bunz," inspired by the real-life bar "Hooters." DJ finds out that David is living with Darlene; also, he tells her he misses her.
Plot summary[]
After receiving notice from the neighborhood association about not putting up tacky Christmas decorations on their property, the Conners go all out for a "white trash" Christmas. Dan and Roseanne offer Becky money to start college, but freak when she gives the money to her husband, Mark, to attend trade-school, forbidding her give it to him. Becky retaliates by refusing the money, taking a job in a Hooter's-like bar/restaurant, Bunz, to pay for Mark's school herself. When Beverly and D.J. drop in on Darlene unannounced, D.J. discovers a secret that Darlene has been keeping from the family. Dan teaches Mark secrets of a happy marriage.
