Young Love, Old Love and Take This Job and Shove It is the sixth episode of Season 4 of The Conners, also the 57th episode overall.
Summary[]
Darlene worries about Mark making friends at his new school while Mark turns to Ben for personal advice. Meanwhile, Becky finds herself thriving in college and starts thinking about her future plans.
Plot[]
Darlene, in an attempt to bond with her Family, thinks the best solution is for her son to begin dating. The dating is rushed when it what could be the perfect match is going to move away. Ben is asked to help solve the problem. He also needs to help Dan with the roof before a bunch of Crazy Storms cause even more damages. Becky continues her education, bringing her classmates home and to The Lunch Box.
In-Depth[]
They are in the kitchen. Dan comments about Insurance problems. Insurance is completely useless as absolutely nothing is covered. He also says that he has no Vision coverage which makes it impossible to read the fine print. Louise says that they need to make repairs to the roof as soon as possible as Suspicious Storms are never going to end. Dan has no other choice to ask Ben to help him. Darlene and Ben argue about Mark Junior not being able to get to know any body. He tells Ben about his days while Darlene wants to know also. Mark Junior says he walks to school extra early to meet the cook for free Tater Tots. He also says to Darlene that he prefers to find friends by himself.
Jackie is upset at Becky not being much help at The Lunch Box. She also tells her to call Lucy. It turns out that Becky is invited to Study Groups. Becky lets Jackie know she is going to take the afternoon off.
Neville and Darlene talk about Neville's Godson Logan. They set up a Blind Date without their permission.
Back at The Lunch Box, Becky is inviting her Study Group. Jackie begs Becky to order supplies. Darlene and Mark Junior waiting for Neville and Logan. He is annoyed that Darlene is setting up a Blind Date, and even worse Darlene makes the mistake of telling him that he is going to be around for a very long time. Neville and Logan arrives. Logan is equally annoyed at the situation and is not too pleased with Neville either.
Later, Mark Junior and Logan meet each other by themselves. Unfortunately, they lied to them. Logan intends to stay with his father in Oklahoma. Even so, Logan is invited to Movie Night.
Becky lets Jackie know that she wants to be a silent partner at The Lunch Box. Jackie is upset because Neville is fed up with The Lunch Box for selling Meat while he is a Veternarian. Becky says they need to figure it out later, some time after she graduates. However, Becky intends to invite her friends to eat and study at The Lunch Box.
Ben is supervising Movie Night. They tell him to go make popcorn. Because Logan has been staying there most nights for three weeks, Logan insists that they spend time alone in bed before he moves away. Later, Mark Junior asks Ben what should happen next. Ben thinks that Darlene should know while Mark Junior needs a Father Figure instead. Ben tells him to stop dating Logan before or risk his heart getting broken.
Darlene and Ben confront each other in the kitchen about the blind date. At first, Darlene is delighted to know that the blind date is successful. Ben tells Darlene that Mark Junior is afraid to date and that his mother might not understand. Ben says that he agrees completely and tells her to stop manipulating her children. He says that he should start listening to them without being nosey. Dan is listening and provides an example by walking to the refrigerator.
Darlene finally sees Mark Junior so she can practice listening. She can barely stand to do that.
Darlene goes to the kitchen to talk to Ben yet again, which he comments about. Darlene and Ben have a Truce with each other after she says how well the conversation went. She thanks him and looks forward to finally getting along with her children. She asks Ben if she is available to date. They start to get along better with each other.
Becky recruits people for University and brings them home with her.
